Polyvagal Principles Made Simple

Really simply put - our behaviours are split into 3 broad categories depending on the cues of safety or threat our body picks up.

When we pick up cues of threat

Our behaviours can be defensive mobilised (high energy) or defensive immobilised (low energy).

When we pick up cues of safety

Our behaviours are relaxed or safe and social and our nervous system gives us perm

Support Teens and Tweens talk about things that matter to them.

These cards help us open up conversations about our meltdowns and shutdowns in a non-threatening way.

Helps Neurodivergent young people & adults

Grow their emotional landscape and connect their emotions to their behaviours.

Hey, I’m Yasmin – the founder of Watoto Play and a neurodivergent BACP  Accredited trauma therapist diagnosed later in life with dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD. I created the Whats My State?  Cards to help families foster open, meaningful conversations about difficult and challenging behaviours. 

My goal is to support families in understanding each other better, building acceptance, playfulness and creating a world where everyone’s unique traits are embraced.
